11 February is the International day of the Women in Science: Celebrating Women in Science at GreenSoil!

February 2025

On this International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we proudly highlight two incredible women at GreenSoil who are shaping the future of environmental remediation: Mayara Pupo and Stéphanie Vandionant. Their expertise, passion, and drive is inspiring!

💡 Mayara Pupo – Project Director, GreenSoil Brasil "If there’s one thing environmental remediation has taught me, it’s that no problem is the same – and that’s exactly why I love what I do. I built my career at GreenSoil by diving headfirst into complex projects, tackling emerging contaminants and finding solutions where none seemed to exist. What fascinates me most? Bioremediation—watching nature itself restore contaminated areas is almost magical. As Jane Goodall said: ‘What you do makes a difference and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.’ That’s what drives me—turning knowledge into real solutions."

💡 Stéphanie Vandionant – R&D Engineer, GreenSoil Europe "One comment I hear often is, ‘Wow, you’re a bioengineer with a PhD in biology? You must be smart.’ But really, I just worked hard, pushing forward each day—because let’s be honest, an experiment working on the first try? That would be boring! Working at GreenSoil is a perfect fit, combining my passion for environmental remediation with hands-on fieldwork. I have years of experience in phytoremediation, and here, I get to develop and apply these techniques—not just in the lab but also out in the field. And let’s not forget PFAS! Knowing I might be working on solutions to one of the world’s biggest contamination challenges is both exciting and humbling."

Today, we celebrate the brilliant women pushing boundaries in science. Thank you, Mayara and Stéphanie, for leading the way in the Greensoil company. In addition to the women highlighted above, we are fortunate to have other hard-working women on our staff who, in their own way, also contribute to the science at GreenSoil. Thank you to them as well.
